On Friday, 17 April 2009, in Ljubljana, the UN Global Compact Slovenia held a meeting of its members titled "Becoming Sustainable in a Time of Crisis". The event was honoured by the presence of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Danilo Türk. Representatives of organisations present at the meeting shared best practices used for integrating social and environmental agenda related to sustainable development into companies’ business strategy in times of global economic crisis. Participants of the meeting were welcomed by Prof. Danica Purg, President of the UN Global Compact Slovenia and President of the IEDC-Bled School of Management, and by the host of the event, Mr. Dejan Turk, the Chairman of the Board of Si.mobil. The UN Global Compact Slovenia for sustainable development was established in 2007 on the initiative of Prof. Danica Purg. The main goal of the UN Global Compact Slovenia is to advise and assist Slovenian businesses in the field of sustainable development and social responsibility. All these initiatives and meetings are an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and share best practices and solutions for sustainable operations for businesses and societal benefit, these being also an important effort of one of the members of the UN Global Compact Slovenia, ATech's CEO, Mr. Davor Jakulin.
